Andy Adams
Andy Adams (1859-1935) grew up in Indiana on a cattle farm, then spent over a decade driving herds across Texas and the great trails of the Old West.
Frustrated by the romanticized cowboy myths of his day, he turned to writing in his 40s to show what cowboy life was really like — hard work, dusty trails, long nights, and deep connections to the land.
His debut The Log of a Cowboy remains his best-known work, praised for its authenticity and still in print more than a century later.
